Legacy Community Place profiles include a variety of the community’s historic and culturally significant locations. They highlight Black-owned businesses, notable churches, and other historic institutions. Many of Leon County’s historical places have been recovered or preserved and transformed into museums, which are open to the public. Maintaining these locations not only helps to teach younger generations the history of Legacy Communities but also to remember the stories and value the unique lives of the previous generations. Leon County’s place profiles highlight those stories.
