Little Zion is a small community located south of Dellwood. The town is made up of several close families who look after one another. Residents continue to work together to make sure Little Zion supports each and every community member and visitor.
Little Zion School
Off a winding country road in rural North Florida stands one of few historic schoolhouses that served Black people after their emancipation. On its original site, the Little Zion School is currently being restored by community families.
Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church
The Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church and the historic schoolhouse have been significant community assets for the Little Zion Legacy Community for a long time. Similar to the school, the church has recently gone through a renovation that was supported by the local community. COVID-19 is just one of the global crises they’re concerned about, which pushed their weekly services online. In the fall of 2020, the church began allowing in-person services once again. Those attending were asked to wear face masks and maintain social distancing of six feet when they enter the sanctuary. People were also able to participate in the congregation through live streaming on social media platforms in real time.
